No. The objectives of the estate regeneration programme are to improve existing council homes and to provide more of them. It will contribute to Lambeth’s commitment to building 1,000 extra homes at council rent levels and money from sales may be necessary to help pay for these homes.
The details of the proposals for individual estates have not yet been decided, but the overall intention is to secure a balance of tenures – for any additional new homes on each estate, up to 60% would be for council rent and 40% for private sale/private rent.
