The Compulsory Purchase Act 1965 requires that, in most circumstances, the acquiring authority must repay the costs incurred by the sale i.e. professional fees incurred by the resident such as surveyors valuation/advice and solicitors fees for handling the sale. The Land Compensation Act 1973 specifies awards and administration of compensation for residents who are required to move home (by compulsory purchase or voluntary agreement).
