On 21st March 2016, the Council’s Cabinet met to discuss the proposed redevelopment of the Cressingham Gardens Estate. The Cabinet, faced with a lack of money for refurbishment and a serious shortage of genuinely affordable homes, agreed to take forward Option 5 (the complete redevelopment of the estate) to build better homes for our existing tenants and more homes for the wider community.
A Councillor has referred the decision to the Council's Overview & Scrutiny Committee. This committee examines the decisions and actions of the Council and you can find out more about the work of the committee by going to:
The Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee will meet on Monday 9th May at 7pm in 110 Union Road (Springfield Community and Health Centre), London, SW8 2SH. The Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee has a number of options including asking the Cabinet to:
- Resolve not to refer the decision back to Cabinet;
- Resolve not to refer the decision back to Cabinet, but nevertheless to make such recommendations as it sees fit; or,
- Resolve to refer the decision to Cabinet for reconsideration with a written explanation setting out the nature of the committee’s concerns.
After the Overview and Scrutiny committee has made its decision, we will write to you again explaining what happens next.
