The council is Homes for Lambeth's only shareholder. This gives the council significant control over what HfL does.
In addition, the council will impose conditions on HfL when reaching agreement about the use of specific plots of land – for example, over how many and what type of new homes will be built on them. If Homes for Lambeth fails to meet these requirements, the land will immediately revert back the council.
In addition, each tenant will have a legally-binding contract with Homes for Lambeth. These new Lifetime Assured Tenancies match Secure Tenancies as closely as possible and were consulted upon with current residents. They can only be amended if both sides agree to changes.
