The Council wants to support residents (Homeowners and Council Tenants) with support and advice throughout the regeneration process. That is why the Council is providing resident selected Independent Resident Advisors (IRAs). Below is an introduction from the two IRAs for Central Hill.
What are your names?
Abraham Nomafo and Ron Houston from PPCR.
Which estate are you working on?
Central Hill Estate
What do you see as the role of the IRA?
PPCR were selected by the Residents Engagement Panel (REP) to provide Independent Advice for all the residents affected by the proposed regeneration of Central Hill. PPCR will provide support at group and 1:1 levels, to help all residents engage at a local level that suits them. In the coming months PPCR be holding local meetings with residents supported by the Resident Engagement Panel. PPCR will also work to achieve common ground with Lambeth Council so that the Central Hill regeneration is a success.
Keys elements of successful housing regeneration are to assist and support local residents to develop a ‘vision’ for the area and the Community, draw out information and examine proposals in depth. To be successful, regeneration has to be Council and Community led – working in partnership. PPCR will work with Resident Engagement Panel and Lambeth Council. The Panel will formally engage with the Council as a Sounding Board for ideas. The next step is about developing the Master Plan for the area by setting out the resident’s baseline and hopes, getting answers to the key concerns and priorities of tenants and freeholders.
